The AJEEC Scholarship is an academic and social support program that aims to empower Arab students in institutions of higher learning across Israel and to encourage them to combine academic excellence with active community involvement.
The scholarship, distributed by AJEEC in partnership with Mifal HaPais and a number of educational institutions and local authorities, is intended for students pursuing a bachelor’s degree at a university or college recognized by the Council for Higher Education.
The total number of scholarships is limited, and we therefore follow a principle of prioritizing those who apply early while considering the applicant’s fit.
In the south: Tel Sheva, Hura, Kuseife, Segev Shalom, Laqiya, Ar’ara BaNegev, Rahat, Al-Kasom, Neve Midbar, the unrecognized communities, and Sapir College.
In the center: Jatt, Ar’ara, Tira, Tayibe, Lod, Ramla, Qalansawe, and Baqa al-Gharbiyye.
In the north: Umm al-Fahm, Tur’an, Mashhad, Sakhnin, Ilut, Shefar’am, Nazareth, and the University of Haifa.
The size of the scholarship, granted in partnership with Mifal HaPais, is 10,000 shekels.
In order to receive the scholarship, each student is expected to volunteer for 140-160 hours over the course of the academic year.
The scholarship intends to build a generation of enterprising young leaders, one that combines academic studies and social responsibility, by encouraging community service within the framework of AJEEC programs: Shabibat AJEEC, the AJEEC team responsible for trips, AJEEC on campus at Sapir College and the University of Haifa, the Darbak program for AJEEC alumni, or in unrecognized communities in the Negev.
Students who are accepted into the program receive guidance and support throughout the entire school year and commit to volunteering 140-160 hours over the course of the year—an average of four hours a week—and to participating in trainings and shared activities.
Registration generally opens in August or September of each year. The exact date will be published on the official scholarship website.
